National Smile Month 2020

The practice is currently supporting National Smile Month. It is a charity campaign all about championing the benefits of having good oral health and promoting the value of a healthy smile.
Between 18 May 2020 and 18 June 2020, the Oral Health Foundation will be raising awareness of important oral health issues and ready to put a smile on everybody’s face. It aims to make a positive difference to the oral health of millions of people.
We feel it is extremely important to support this campaign as it recognises that maintaining a healthy smile can be simple but for so many this can be very difficult. Despite the many improvements in oral health over the last 40 years, inequalities continue to be a burden for countless individuals in our society.
By supporting National Smile Month, we can help reach groups in society where oral disease is far too common. It is a chance to reach people in the heart of the community and help others achieve better oral health by sharing important oral health messages.
The key messages of National Smile Month are:
• Brush your teeth for two minutes, last thing at night and at one other time during the day, with a fluoride toothpaste.
• Use mouthwash and clean between your teeth with interdental brushes or floss every day.
• Cut down on how much sugar you have, and how often you have it.
We will be sharing social media and blog posts throughout this month to support these key messages.
We believe that everybody deserves a healthy smile as a person’s oral health is a crucial part of their overall wellbeing.
